DGE Edwin M. Valencia is a thoracic and cardiovascular surgeon and a dedicated member of the Rotary Club of General Santos City. He will serve as District Governor of Rotary International District 3860 for Rotary Year 2027 to 2028.
A Rotarian since 2012, DGE Edwin has served as Club President, Assistant Governor, and District Vocational Training Team Subcommittee Chair. His leadership and service earned him recognition as Outstanding Assistant Governor for Rotary Year 2022 to 2023 and as one of the district’s Top Three District Officers for Rotary Year 2023 to 2024.
As a physician and a Rotarian, DGE Edwin uses his medical expertise to expand access to essential healthcare. Since 2022, he has participated in Rotary regional heart surgery missions in Marawi City, Cotabato City, and Cebu City.
Through Rotary’s Vocational Training Team program, he has performed more than 200 arteriovenous fistula surgeries for indigent hemodialysis patients in Surigao, Butuan, Bohol, Dumaguete City, Ormoc City, Koronadal City, and General Santos City.
In 2023, DGE Edwin helped establish a partnership with Rotary District 2760 in Nagoya, Japan. Through this partnership, healthcare workers received technical training in heart surgery, strengthening medical knowledge, skills, and collaboration across communities.
DGE Edwin is a Major Donor Level 1, Paul Harris Fellow, Paul Harris Society member, Benefactor, and PolioPlus Society member.
His Rotary journey reflects a strong commitment to fellowship, leadership, and meaningful service. As District Governor, DGE Edwin looks forward to bringing Rotarians together, strengthening clubs, developing leaders, and supporting communities throughout District 3860.
